Bed Head.

After a little break and reset I’m back, sat reflecting on such an aesthetically pleasing stay at Soho Farmhouse. The Soho House look and feel always has my interior design lust level raised to well over 100 - since then I’ve been mulling over bedroom spaces and how important they are to us, our homes and our wellbeing.

A great nights sleep, in chic surroundings are what dreams are made of surely?

The smallest detail can make or break a space and its so easy to see overly styled rooms in magazines, Instagram is flooded with them. There is a true art to curating space and understanding how to use it, keeping everything functional is the key to managing your interior space well. Interior design is not textures and cushions, it's apportionment of space and understanding how best to use it.

I’ve been reading about the Feng Shui of bedroom spaces and the importance of your beds positioning and most of all choosing the correct headboard to fully connect with the space. In the world of interior design Feng Shui, headboards promote good energy flow and are a key installation in any bedroom.

“Headboards aid a great nights sleep”

Headboards not only forge supportive qualities they aid a great nights sleep. Wonderfully curved and sculpted headboards channel those exact positive energies, soft edges and fluid shapes all create and encourage peaceful sleep, adding chic interior styling and stunning fabric into your bedroom surely helps too… don’t you think?

“Careful curation will keep your restful space calm”

I do tend to lean towards a minimal approach to bedroom styling. Style statements, of course yes, over filling spaces definitely not. Resisting the desire to over fill a room, now that’s a skill, and managing the taste level correctly that’s a whole new skill of it’s own. Furniture in bedrooms bring clutter - careful curation will keep your restful space calm. Chairs adorned with clothes are not really the most stylish addition to your boudoir are they? There is actually very little you do need in your bedroom, I bet you could go and remove a whole handful of stuff you don’t even use!

“The perfect combination for restful tranquility”

After reading into the Feng Shui of bedroom furniture planning, my own bedroom works in line with the ethos, and actually channels a lot of positive energy, along with the carefully considered use of the space and minimalistic approach to how I’ve filled it - keeping the space open and airy is the perfect combination for restful tranquility.

Not only does my design layout work wonders, my feet even face East, wonderfully positioned to bring maximum happiness and prosperity and the sunrise in my awaking sightline gives me all the components of a great nights sleep. My bedroom is a beautifully open and peaceful space, that I do love and by the sounds of it the Feng Shui experts would too.

I’m now laughing to myself that the soundtrack to me writing these very sentences around calmness has been accompanied by the dulcet tones of Marilyn Manson’s Tainted Love and Personal Jesus - there’s that balance we always reference, a reminder that a little bit of everything is good for you.

I must be so zen - do you know what, I think I am, I hope you can say that too.
