Pleasure yourself.

Drawing inspiration from the most mesmerising catwalk collection of 2022 - for me anyway and of course thus far, (it would be quite a statement to announce that only half way through the year!).

It was the monochromatic colour drenched palette of the Valentino show that I’m talking about. The most vivid pink - it really did make it about the design, the definition between the single tones, focusing our eyes on the shapes, the silhouettes and most definitely the drama. On top of that the bathed monotone atmosphere of the catwalk - and let us not forget the celebrity monochromatic guests - which was fabulous, and this was a real moment. I was however not as enthusiastic about it being dug up for the met gala, or was that’s just me?

“sculpted curves, overindulgent lines and volume”

The show inspired a capsule within the Dopamine collection of monochromatic tone, the biggest statement being the cosmos club chair - its sculpted curves, overindulgent lines and volume all depicted from the silhouettes and shapes of the Valentino runway. It like the catwalk show is minimalistic maximalism, a subject I think we should come back to sometime, it needs further conversation.

Cosmo Club Chair, Ligne Roset x REX

Back to the chair in question a Ligne Roset Havana Club chair refashioned from an old fashion into what my fabulous American friend dubbed a “Cosmo” - her exact words which I still can not get out of my mind and I actually paid homage to in the naming of the chair to quote “Its a club chair - except now it doesn’t drink whiskey it drinks a cosmopolitain” what a fabulous expression of her understanding of the detail. It does drink a cosmo now, its deliciously feminine curves paired with the SATC cocktail of choice. Not that we are going there, especially after the reboot, but I think it would be Carrie if you’re wondering. And not to say the chair is female, but it does have all the stunning curved characteristics of the feminine presenting form.

I often find furniture and design quite tough and masculine, so the soft fluidity of its curves and lack of liner does appeal to me, my designs and my overall love of the new shape I’ve created. It’s about being masculine and feminine at the same time.
