Have you been to Parker, Palm Springs? That’s a heavy dose of pleasure for sure, for so many reasons but the decor is pretty much the star of it’s show. Every eyeful is something new to make you drool just little bit more each time - yet like everything Desert Modern its behind a very modest facade, that’s quite decadent in itself I suppose!

I do have a lust list and the top few things are, buy a house in Palm Springs, move to Palm Springs, live in Palm Springs. So yeah the Californian desert ranks pretty highly for me. Perhaps it is my muse - there is something about that 40 degree desert heat that hits a little differently for sure.

I like the fact that Desert Mid Century Modern has moved away from the palettes of the 50s and kept only the chic designs and shapes of the era. I design furniture with the same imagination. The reclaimed frames, altered, tweaked and moulded into something new - designing each piece as a one off, a statement of style and design. Pink is definitely my colour of the year, and this week I watched it walk for Winter 2022 at Marc Jacobs in a slightly softer form!

We saw it [pink] on the catwalks earlier this year, it has dressed more monochromatic red carpet looks than it needed to, and now we have Margot Robbie as Barbie flooding our feed. Dopamine dressing is coming for our fashion fix in a huge way. Fashion attracts a cult following, so let’s dress our homes like we dress ourselves, let’s dabble with colour, change the pace, be brave, even if it’s just a splash. We turn to fashion to decide on our clothing choices, so let’s do that for our interiors too - or does decor not hit the same after all?
